The very same people we defeated two years ago by a landslide in the largest voter turnout in the history of our city by a factor of three are back, literally pulling the strings of three candidates that they recruited to try and defeat Wayne Orchard, Melody Osorio, and me.
As each of the candidate’s own campaign finance reports prove, the Short, Larkin and Bloom campaigns are retreads of the ousted political ruling class desperate to snatch back the seats of power from the people!
The two ousted former office holders, Mayor Gary Moody & Councilman Steve Hatfield, along with failed council candidate & Pennsylvania liberal Mark Kipphut, former Mayor Mike Donegan, former 21-year incumbent Councilman Jack Pullen all want back in the driver’s seat and have found the three patsies willing to go along.
Just like two years ago Steve Hatfield and the gang appear to have created another PAC and, just like last time, is deceitfully disguised as a new citizens group calling themselves “Neighbors for McLendon-Chisholm” (two years ago Donnegan called his group “Citizens for McLendon-Chisholm”). This is their mudslinging mechanism that keeps their candidates from getting dirty. An out-of-town consultant, Deanna Kuykendall, has been brought in to direct both the PAC and the three candidate’s campaigns.
Though the candidate’s finance reports show no compensation being paid to her (she must be getting compensated in other ways), Kuykendall has also been busy going door to door sharing with citizens why she thinks they should support candidates that will not impact her life one bit!
Their plan of attack is to create a smokescreen of baseless facts, fallacious assertions, and perverted innuendo. No doubt you’ve already found some of their quick-hit attack ads in your mailbox!
Their candidates will be sending out feel-good mail-pieces bearing wistful images & hollow rhetoric that’s geared for the low information voter, which is their only hope for victory.
